PORTFOLIO DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS

Prerequisite: A makeup diploma or certificate with a minimum of 80 hours of training and a hairstyling diploma or certificate with a minimum of 80 hours of training OR a minimum of 3 years of working experience as a makeup artist and hairstylist for the camera. A resume with references must be provided in order to register for any of our workshops. You must bring a pro makeup and hair kit to the studio. Fashion makeup accessories are available for purchase.
Launched in 2007, the Portfolio Development Workshops were the first of their kind in the makeup education industry. They were created and designed by the owners/instructors of Wink Makeup Studio & Academy, to help a makeup artist fast track their career by developing an industry acceptable and professional hair & makeup portfolio. Wink Makeup Studio & Academy brings professional models, fashion photographers and fashion stylists together to create beauty, fashion and editorial photo shoots for the students who enrol in these workshops.
Our 3 Portfolio Development workshops are one day photo shoots for the professional makeup artist or for artists with photographic or editorial makeup experience or training. Please bring your professional makeup and hair kits to class. Additional supplies are available for purchase if required.
“THE BEAUTY” PORTFOLIO – 1 day
Provides the makeup artist with the opportunity to develop what the industry refers to as a “beauty” shot; facial image only. The artist will create their own hair and makeup look. You will receive a CD with a retouched image of your choice and one 9x12 print for your portfolio. Additional prints are not included but available for purchase.

THE “HIGH FASHION COVER” PORTFOLIO – 1 day
This photo shoot is inspired by current cover looks, like those seen on the covers of fashion magazines such as Vogue, Elle, Cosmopolitan or In Style. The looks photographed will include beauty and ¾ shots.
Photo shoots themes reflect current trends. The artist's hair & makeup design will work in conjunction with the theme, photographer's & stylist's vision. Stylist is to create one look for the shoot. You will receive a CD with a retouched image of your choice and one 9x12 print of your portfolio. Additional prints are not included but available for purchase.

THE “5PAGE SPREAD” PORTFOLIO – 1day
The 5 page spread portfolio is an editorial photo shoot that consists of beauty, ¾ and full body shots. A stylist will be on set to create up to 3 looks for you. You will be responsible to create a hair and makeup concept that suits the clothing, set and lighting. Themes will be continually updated to reflect current fashion trends. You will receive a CD with a retouched image of your choice and one 9x12 print for your portfolio. Additional prints are not included but available for purchase.
