Prerequisite for Stage 101: A makeup diploma or certificate with a minimum of 80 hours of training OR a minimum of 3 years of working experience as a makeup artist. A resume with references must be provided in order to register. You must bring a pro kit to class. Other supplies are available for purchase if required.

STAGE 101 (40 hours, 10 days)
Welcome to the exciting, fast paced world of theatrical makeup where your character comes to life on the big stage, capturing the imagination of a live audience. Discover the world of stage makeup with one of the Canadian Opera Company’s principal makeup artists. Learn the terminology, proper procedure and makeup etiquette for the theatre. Understand what products and tools work best for theatre. Practice classic makeup techniques for the theatre, including leading lady, ballerina and male straight makeup. Create authentic ageing of characters and learn how to prepare hair pieces, wigs and how to apply wigs
Price: $1000 plus tax. Price includes in class use of materials
Part time - Tuesday & Thursday evenings, 6pm-10pm
Full time – Monday to Thursday, 9am to 5:30pm

Take your makeup skills to the next level by learning how to create a variety of famous characters from the world of theatre and opera such as a classic geisha, animal, fantasy and circus characters for a variety of venues. Learn facial hair application and how to block and redraw eyebrows to create a variety of expressions for your characters.
Price: $1000 plus tax. Price includes in class use of materials.
